Fresh-Water Pearls are cultured in mussels in lakes, whereas the traditional pearls are cultured in oysters in the ocean. Freshwater pearls come in many shapes from round to rice shapes and in many different colors. As with the salt water pearls, the round shape are usually more expensive.
